This is “Kinkaku-ji”, or the “Golden Pavilion Temple”. It’s one of the most popular tourist spots in Japan, being a huge golden-coated historic landmark, looking beautiful all year round and those from afar travel just for an opportunity to see it in person.
When I traveled to Japan three years ago for a school trip I was fortunate enough to drop by it as a tourist spot, and got an accompanying history lesson with it. The teacher heading the trip also commented “It’s so beautiful that no matter how bad you are at photography it’s impossible to capture a bad photo of the temple.”
